European Ediltrophy: training and competition to promote skills in dry construction
Fundación Laboral de la Construcción has organised the pilot training programme and the national competition within the framework of the Ediltrophy project during September at its regional centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
The Ediltrophy initiative, coordinated by Formedil (Italy), brings together five organisations from four European countries to promote skills in the field of dry construction. As part of the consortium, Fundación Laboral de la Construcción has tested the training programmes designed jointly by the partner organisations in Las Palmas.
Training tailored to different profiles
Two training programmes on dry construction have been developed within the framework of the project. One is intended for technical staff and the other for construction workers.
The courses aim to strengthen the skills required to work with dry construction systems and to meet the sector’s new needs.
The training uses an active, practice-based learning methodology to address the sector’s current needs from a transnational perspective, sharing best practice and providing joint solutions to common problems.
The participation of under-represented groups in the pilot experience has been facilitated, creating diverse and participatory learning environments, with the aim of promoting social inclusion in the construction sector.
From the classroom to competition
On 25 September, once the pilot training had concluded, the operatives took part in pairs in the national European Ediltrophy competition, also held at the regional centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The competition featured separate challenges for technical staff and workers. During the contest, participants were able to put their knowledge and skills in dry construction into practice.
It is worth highlighting that the winning pair from the Spanish national competition will take part in the European Ediltrophy competition, which is due to take place very soon.
A commitment to Construction 4.0
European Ediltrophy addresses the evolution of dry construction systems from a perspective that combines innovation, digitalisation, sustainability and inclusion.
The project aims to promote more efficient and sustainable construction and to strengthen professionals’ readiness for the changes the sector is undergoing.
Next Steps
Following the European competition, the Ediltrophy project consortium will organise three international workshops focusing on environmental sustainability, digital transformation and social inclusion. Confirmed dates:
- 4 November: social inclusion.
- 11 November: digital solutions.
- 18 November: environmental sustainability.
These events will provide an opportunity to share experiences and best practice regarding the main challenges facing the sector.
