Partners of the 'Construye 2030plus' project advance in green upskilling for the construction sector
The consortium held its second coordination meeting to review technical progress and plan the next steps towards more sustainable and innovative training in the sector.
Last week, the partners of the 'Construye 2030plus' project, coordinated by Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, gathered at the premises of the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science (IETcc-CSIC) to advance the project’s main objective: “to improve training and certification of key micro-competences for the green transition in the construction sector.”
The Construye 2030plus consortium is made up of highly relevant entities from the Spanish construction industry and the fields of employment, research, and training: Confederación Nacional de la Construcción (CNC), CCOO del Hábitat, UGT FICA, the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science of the CSIC, the National Association of Ceramic and Building Materials Distributors (ANDIMAC), and the State Foundation for Training in Employment (Fundae), under the leadership of Fundación Laboral de la Construcción.
During the meeting, the partners -within the framework of the BUILD UP Skills initiative and co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme- focused on the development of key project outcomes, including:
- Micro-competence maps related to energy efficiency, essential for identifying specific training needs within the sector.
- A self-assessment mobile app enabling workers to evaluate the micro-competences acquired through training actions.
- Innovative teaching resources focused on thermal insulation, window and heat pump installation, and the use of sustainable construction materials.
- An online course (in MOOC mode) on the new European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, aimed at technical staff, public authorities, companies, and social partners.
- A training route across 10 Spanish cities via a Skills-Bus that will visit active construction sites, offering training directly on-site without the need for travel to training centres.
- Trainers training actions for those involved in the Skills-Bus route.
- Communication, awareness and stakeholder engagement strategies designed to involve key actors in the construction sector.
These outcomes contribute to the European Union’s goals of decarbonising the building stock and reinforcing professional capacities for a fair and inclusive energy transition. This commitment takes on particular significance this month, coinciding with the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2025), held from 10–12 June. This annual event promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy across Europe through awareness campaigns and stakeholder mobilisation.
