FLC has been recognised for ‘the coordination of relevant projects in the fight against climate change and the environment’
The National VET Team highlights the best practices of the partner organisation in the management of Erasmus+ projects with the aim of sharing knowledge and promoting the transfer of its experience to the other participants of the European programme.
Fundación Laboral de la Construcción has been recognised for ‘the coordination of relevant projects in the framework of the fight against climate change and the environment’ by the National VET Team, coordinated by the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE) and made up of representatives of the General State Administration (Ministry of Education and Vocational Training), the Spanish regions and beneficiary or evaluating centres of the Erasmus+ programme in Spain.
Among the projects focused on preserving the environment and promoting sustainability in construction, the Erasmus+ ‘Green Growth’ initiative has been highlighted, which has promoted the creation of an academic strategy to position the Circular Economy as a transversal competence in training in the sector.
This recognition took place within the framework of the meeting held between the Projects team of FLC and a delegation of the National VET Team, on 6th May, in which the consolidated trajectory of the peer entity in the Erasmus+ programme, as well as in others co-founded by the European Union, was shared, and the attraction of young talent to the construction sector was addressed as one of the most priority needs of the sector.
European background
The Projects department, which belongs to the Training and Employment area of FLC, was created more than 20 years ago with the aim of improving and promoting innovation in the training it offers its students and contributing its experience to the European area.
Since then, the entity has participated as coordinator or partner in more than 70 projects co-founded by European programmes, and more than 15 Erasmus mobility projects for students or Training and Employment staff.
The entity currently participates in 13 projects, leading 6 of them: Pact4Youth, of the Erasmus+ programme, which seeks to attract young people to the sector; BUILD UP Skills ‘Construye 2030’, of the LIFE programme, which develops a training proposal tailored to the needs of companies and the energy requirements of buildings; #BuildOffsiteEU, of the Erasmus+ programme, which aims to facilitate the (re)qualification of the construction sector workforce for the transition from traditional to industrialised construction; Women Can Build LatAm, from the Erasmus+ Capacity Building programme, which aims to empower women in the construction sector in Latin America; NaturBuild, from the Erasmus+ programme, which aims to design specialised training in green roofs; or the new Erasmus+ scholarship programme that will send 21 Basic and Intermediate Vocational Training students and 9 members of the Training and Employment area abroad as beneficiaries of an Erasmus scholarship.
Constitution of National VET Teams
The constitution of National VET Teams by the National Agencies of the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of Education and Training (in the case of Spain, the SEPIE) has been an initiative of the European Commission in order to: ‘deepen the knowledge of the application of the tools and principles of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the European Union’.
This creation is part of the priority actions launched within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme (2021-2027), including the development and improvement of the quality of VET mobility in Europe, in which the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción also participates.
