Fundación Laboral de Construcción has attended, as the coordinating entity of the BUILD UP Skills 'Construye 2030' project (co-funded by the European Commission's LIFE program, Clean Energy Transition), the European Sustainable Energy Week 2023, which this year has focused on: "Accelerating the transition to clean energy: towards lower bills and higher skills."

The Director of Training and Employment, Javier González, and the Training Design Manager of Fundación, Ana González, have traveled to Brussels to attend sessions on 'Decarbonizing the EU Building Stock: Overcoming the Skills Gap?' and 'Innovative Approaches to Enhancing Qualification of Construction Workers: Towards a Carbon-Neutral Building Stock'. These sessions were organized on Tuesday, June 20th, by the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission (DG Energy) and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

During both sessions, an assessment has been made of the efforts made by sector stakeholders to ensure the availability of qualified workforce capable of addressing the decarbonization of European buildings. Additionally, the approaches and best practices implemented by the BUILD UP Skills projects have been presented, including the 'Construye 2030' project, the fourth initiative of these projects in Spain. Its objective is to update the sector's status quo and design a roadmap to contribute to achieving the energy goals of the Agenda 2030.

Other projects that drive the energy transformation of the sector

Fundación Laboral coordinates several projects co-financed by European programs that focus on promoting the dual green and digital transition of the sector through the requalification of workers or the improvement of their professional skills.

Regarding the promotion of clean energy and sustainable construction, the organization leads the Erasmus+ projects: 'NaturBuild', which aims to design specialized training in green roofs; 'Green Growth', which promotes skills to address the challenge of the circular economy in construction; 'Construction Blueprint', where a new strategic approach has been developed for professional skills in the areas of energy efficiency, digitalization, and circular economy for the construction industry.

It also participates in the project 'EPIU Getafe. Healthy Homes', led by the Ayuntamiento de Getafe, to identify and reduce energy poverty in the municipality, specifically in the neighborhoods of La Alhóndiga and Las Margaritas.

Coinciding with the European Year of Skills, at the beginning of 2023, the Foundation started the #Pact4Youth project, which supports the Pact for Skills in Construction to promote youth employability in the construction sector. It employs a participatory methodology based on collaboration between sector representatives and VET providers in Spain, Cyprus, Greece, and Italy.
